BIOGRAPHY
Taehan Kim is a South Korean baritone who has rapidly gained international recognition for his exceptional talent. After studying at Seoul National University College of Music, he has won numerous prestigious awards, including 1st prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2023 in Brussels, The Rolex Prize of the Audience at the Placido Domingo's Operalia 2023, the Brian Dickie Young Talent Award at the International Singing Competition Neue Stimmen 2022, the Scholarship Prize at the 28th Concorso Internazionale Riccardo Zandonai 2022, and the Extraordinary Prize by Internationale OpernWerkstatt at the 59th Concurso Tenor Vinas 2022, just to name a few.
Since joining the Internationale Opernstudio of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin in 2023, he has performed roles in various operas, including Zweiter Geharnischter (Die Zauberflöte), Marquis d'Obigny (La traviata), Marullo (Rigoletto), Jäger (Rusalka), Yamadori (Madama Butterfly), Carceriere (Tosca), Sid (La fanciulla del West), Erster Strelitze (Chowanschtschina), and Soldier 1 in Marc-André Dalbavie's world premiere opera <Melancholie des Wiederstands>. He also had a Liedrecital with Corinna Scheurle under the direction of Thomas Guggeis at Apollosaal, Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
He has also given successful concert debuts as a soloist in Korea, Luxembourg, Brazil, and Belgium. In 2024, Taehan made his operatic debut in Korea as Marcello in <La B0hème> at Seoul Metropolitan Opera, and performed in the 'Last Night of the Proms' at the <BBC PROMS Korea> with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Ryan Wigglesworth.
